The Independent Traveller is part of a small family owned group of companies called Uni-Travel Limited. Uni-Travel Limited started trading in November 1982. The group encompasses four divisions: Uni-Travel, a major student travel office located on Lancaster University campus, Farm Tours, which deals with farming groups worldwide on technical visits to discover new production methods, Ranch Rider, a specialist division dealing with riding holidays particularly in North America, and The Independent Traveller that deals with tailor made holidays around the world with a particular emphasis on Canada, USA, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
We have been taking farming groups to South Africa for many years, and as you might imagine this has led us to some “off the main tourist track” places, which we have incorporated into many of the itineraries put forward by The Independent Traveller. We are told by our clients that these give a different perspective on the country they are visiting and that they see the country through the eyes of a traveller, rather than a holidaymaker.
Location
The Independent Traveller offices are based in Loughborough, Leicestershire in a large well equipped walk in office that deals with both local clients and clients from all around the country, and increasingly with ex pats living abroad.
We encourage clients to enter into a dialogue with us so that we can develop for them a holiday to more than exceed their expectations. Many clients visit us, we encourage you to do so and would point out that Loughborough is easily accessible through the motorway links, or indeed by rail from London. We have one of the largest street markets left in the Midlands, which operates on Thursdays and Saturdays, we have one of the few carillons left in the UK and are also the home of the Taylor Bell Foundry. So besides visiting us here to discuss your holiday plans there is much to do and many clients make a day out as part of planning their holiday.
Staff
The directors and staff have travelled to South Africa regularly over the last 25 years and that coupled with the vast experience of our ground agents in South Africa enable us to build tailor made travel plans from direct personal experience and always incorporating feedback from our many clients.

9.00am to 5.30pm Monday through Friday
9.00am to 4.00pm Saturday
